Blended Intensive Programs of Sports Department

Immerse yourself in a week of learning, sports, and fun activities, all set in the beautiful countryside of Turnhout. You’ll stay in the authentically renovated farmhouse De Lindehoeve, which offers modern facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, or in other charming locations typical of the area.
From this serene base, we’ll embark on excursions to inspiring cities like Hasselt and Antwerp or head to campus for workshops, all centered around the BIP programs:s Technology in Sports, Sports Entrepreneurship, and Esports and Gaming.
The programs are packed with hands-on workshops that bring theory to life, exciting sports activities, opportunities for exploration, and a taste of typical Belgian cuisine. Here’s a sneak peek at what it’s all about!

Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) in Academic Year 2025-2026

All these innovative programs combine online learning with short, immersive on-campus experiences. We invite our partner universities to collaborate on these exciting opportunities.

3 ECTS (20-24 October 2025)

Innovate and do business in the sports industry, a challenging learning experience
Sports is more than just physical activity—it is a powerful social and economic force that drives innovation and business opportunities. This course explores sports entrepreneurship, focusing on how new products, services, and business models are developed within the industry. With an emphasis on fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, students will learn to create value in public institutions, businesses, and social organizations while gaining insights into the broader impact of sports on the economy, health, and social cohesion.
This intensive one-week program combines academic learning with hands-on experiences and cultural exploration. Mornings feature lectures and real-world case studies, while afternoons offer interactive workshops where students, guided by industry professionals, develop their own startup concepts. Beyond the classroom, the program is intertwined with fun activities that provide intercultural experiences and a taste of Belgian culture. Sports challenges, entertaining team-building sessions, and city adventures create the perfect mix of business and pleasure, making this an unforgettable learning experience.

Innovate, explore, and have fun: A unique sports & technology program
Get ready for an immersive experience that blends learning, sports, and adventure in the beautiful setting of Turnhout! This dynamic program offers a mix of interactive workshops, hands-on sports activities, and exciting excursions to explore the role of technology in sports and physical education.
Participants will dive into innovative topics such as Gamification in Sports, Esports and Exergaming, and Multimedia Learning for Coaching and Teaching. Engaging workshops will cover the integration of apps and tablets into physical education, the design of interactive movement videos, and using technology to enhance coaching.
Beyond the classroom, the program features a variety of thrilling activities, including sports sessions, a geocaching challenge in Antwerp, and an adventure-filled exploration of Turnhout. A visit to Sparkx in Hasselt will offer insights into cutting-edge sports technology, followed by exergaming fun. Evenings are packed with entertainment, from team-building surprises to a lively DJ party.
With a perfect balance of education, sports, and cultural discovery, this program is an unforgettable opportunity to expand your skills, meet like-minded individuals, and experience the best of Belgium.

Exploring the future of sports entertainment as a revenue generator
Esports is more than just competitive gaming—it is a rapidly expanding industry at the intersection of entertainment, technology, and business. But what exactly defines esports, and how can it be used as a powerful marketing tool? What roles exist for sports managers in this dynamic sector, and what emerging trends and challenges are shaping its future?
This Blended Intensive Program (BIP) offers an in-depth, hands-on exploration of the esports industry, providing insights into its potential and impact. Through a mix of interactive workshops, engaging activities, and visits to innovative companies within the esports and gaming sector, participants will discover how this fast-evolving field is shaping the future of sports and entertainment. The program seamlessly blends learning with fun, incorporating exciting hands-on experiences, real-world case studies, and entertaining activities that make the journey both educational and enjoyable. It is designed for international students who might aspire to become sports managers, marketers, or gaming industry professionals. This immersive experience offers a unique opportunity to dive into the world of esports and explore its limitless potential.

Extra in Autumn 2026: Sports for Development 3 ECTS

Driving change through sports and community engagement
This program bridges theory and practice, empowering students to explore the transformative role of sports in driving community and global progress. Participants will learn how sustainable initiatives in health, well-being, rural development, and education can be advanced through sports and active community engagement. By examining real-world case studies from around the world, they will gain insights into diverse approaches and successful implementations.
Hands-on experience, intercultural learning, and innovative strategies for using sports as a tool for social impact are at the heart of this program. Beyond theoretical learning, engaging sports activities add a dynamic and enjoyable component to the experience. This Blended Intensive Program (BIP) offers a unique opportunity to engage with global best practices, real-world examples, and practical applications in an interactive and inspiring setting.

Initial Contact: The International Office contacts annet.daems@thomasmore.be, the international coordinator of the sports department, to discuss opportunities and available spots.
Official Nomination: Once confirmed, students proceed with the nomination process by emailing their details (name, study field, type of mobility, etc.) to incoming@thomasmore.be.
