Renata Falcão (MSc) is a researcher at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, within the Safeguarding Sport and Society research line. She is currently working on the Erasmus+ project SAFE-COMBAT.
The SAFE-COMBAT project aims at preventing harm and fostering a safer environment in combat sports and martial arts. Collaborating with partners across Europe, she brings a research-driven and impact-oriented approach that strives to transform evidence into meaningful change. Through this project, she contributes by designing guidelines for trauma-informed focus groups, analyzing survey data, and reviewing relevant literature to inform the creation of a safeguarding code, educational tools, and a certification framework that support coaches, clubs, and organizations in creating safer environments. With experience in legal practice and direct work with victims of abuse (both in and outside the realm of sports), Renata is committed to developing strategies to protect and empower those most affected.
