Caring society

Social work researcher with a passion for fostering and enhancing care and well-being within our society.

Birthe Sels embarked on her educational journey as a remedial education student at the Karel-de-Grote Hogeschool in Antwerp. Following this initial step, she pursued further specialization by obtaining a master's degree in social work at the University of Antwerp.

Throughout her academic pursuits, her commitment to promoting social justice in society only intensified. During her free time, she dedicated herself to improving the lives of children in socially vulnerable residential neighborhoods by creating enjoyable summer experiences for them. After completing her studies, she assumed a managerial role in home care, gaining valuable firsthand insights into the practical aspects of care provision and socialization of care.

Today, Birthe is actively engaged in the development of caring neighborhoods, aiming to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Her endeavors are motivated by her desire to contribute to a more socially equitable society.
