3D scanning and 3D printing in healthcare

Orthotics, prosthetics and exoskeletons

Passionate about automation of personalised 3D design, 3D scanning and 3D printing in healthcare applications.

Tom is by training Orthopedic technologist and Industrial Mechanic Engineer. In 2013, he started working as a researcher within Mobilab & Care. In the early years, he worked mainly on research projects on the influence of prosthesis alignment (Ticoon) and foot pathologies (Footywear & Intoaction).

Over the years, he began to focus more and more on research on the use of 3D printing and 3D scanning within healthcare. More specifically, he worked on several projects where we investigated the use of 3D printing and 3D scanning for the production of orthopedic devices (Efforth), exoskeletons (MOTION) and occupational therapy devices (Assist3D). In addition to knowledge about healthcare-applicable 3D printing and 3D scanning techniques, over the years he has also gained a lot of expertise around the (automated) design of 3D printable devices.

Since 2021, Tom has also been working partly as a Business Developer at Mobilab & Care.
