Sustainable Biomass Processing

Our laboratory specializes in the valorization of residual streams and processing of sustainable biomass, such as insects and microalgae. We develop specific processing strategies and explore new applications within circular value chains. In addition, we focus on up-scaling and innovation of chemical industry processes. Our analytical lab supports this work through in-depth characterization of biomasses and their derived products.

Areas of expertise within our Downstream Processing Expertise Center:

  1. Processing 
    Development and optimization of separation techniques such as extraction, filtration, and suitable drying to efficiently process biomass into valuable components. 
  2. Sustainable Processing Technology 
    Integration of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient processes, with an emphasis on circular applications and minimal ecological impact. 
  3. Analytical Techniques 
    Advanced analytical methods for characterizing solid and liquid samples, including quality assessment of derived products and physical analysis.
