ICP Connect Scholarship

Thanks to the support from VLIRUOS, the Flemish Interuniversity Council, students from 31 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin-America can apply for a full scholarship to follow a Master/Bachelor programme at a Flemish university or university of Applied Sciences in Belgium. Thomas More can provide 8 full scholarships that cover all expenses related to the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science specialisation track Digital Innovation.

The scholarship covers tuition fees, travel expenses, insurance, and living expenses for the duration of the programme. The ICP Connect Scholarships are a competitive opportunity, and a strong application will increase your chances of being selected.

Can I apply for this scholarship?

Eligibility and selection criteria

Candidates that meet the following criteria may apply for an ICP Connect scholarship:

  • Nationality and country of residence: Candidates must hold nationality from one of the 30 eligible countries and reside in any of these countries at the time of application (though not necessarily in their country of origin).
  • Age: Candidates for a bachelor or initial master programme cannot be older than 35 as of 1 January of the intake year, while candidates for an advanced master cannot be older than 45. Additionally, candidates for a bachelor programme must be at least 19 years old by 1 January of the intake year.
  • Professional background and experience: Preference will be given to candidates employed in higher education, government, or civil society, or those targeting a career in one of these sectors. Newly graduated candidates or those employed in the private sector with no work experience may also be considered if they provide strong motivation and a compelling profile.
  • Scholarship applications: Candidates may apply for only one ICP Connect scholarship per year. Candidates cannot receive any other scholarship or grant to participate in this study programme or another programme simultaneously.
  • Previously awarded scholarships: Candidates may not have previously received a scholarship from the Belgian government to attend a study programme, nor may they have enrolled in a study programme at a Belgian higher education institution before 1 January of the year of intake.

Additional selection criteria for the Digital Innovation programme:
  1. Motivation: The candidate demonstrates strong personal motivation and a willingness to learn and commit.
  2. Academic Performance: The candidate’s academic results will be evaluated to determine if they possess a sufficient theoretical foundation to succeed in the programme.
  3. Professional Skills: The candidate must have relevant professional skills.
  4. Soft Skills: Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability are essential.
  5. Intake Interview: Prior to admission, an intake interview will be conducted to assess the above criteria and evaluate the candidate's suitability for Digital Innovation.

Selection Timeline

The Academic Selection Committee will pre-select 16 candidates who fit all scholarship and selection criteria and who demonstrate the highest academic preparedness/potential necessary to succeed in the Bachelor's programme.

Applicants will be informed of the result of the deliberation via email. In total 8 applicants will be nominated for the scholarship (A-list) and 8 will be nominated for the waiting list (B-list).

This will then be submitted to VLIRUOS by March for further screening and approval. Applicants who are awarded the scholarship funding or who are selected for the waiting list will be contacted by VLIRUOS by the end of May. Thomas More will contact the candidates who were not selected for the scholarship.

How to apply for the VLIRUOS Scholarship at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences?

  • Complete the VLIRUOS Scholarship form
  • After that you have been selected and VLIRUOS has confirmed your scholarship (end of May 2025), you need to send in your application via the admission procedure. You will receive more information via email.
  • After going through the admission procedure, you will be able to start your student visa application
