Most schools in the North Sea region were built during more carefree times. Their energy consumption is high and particularly expensive, which is inconsistent with current policies on CO2 reduction.

Goal

This project aims to change that. We do this by encouraging energy-saving measures in existing schools, both technical measures and in terms of our behavior. This will reduce energy consumption and thus CO2 emissions.

This project should lead to energy savings of 30% in 141 schools in the North Sea area, which means an emission reduction of 7320 tons of CO2. In addition, we want to convert at least 4 schools into near zero energy buildings.

Results

We are developing an energy saving programme that includes measures that have been effective in different environments.

We are creating that energy saving programme through Energy Challenges in different schools in the North Sea area. You will find in it cost-effective, educational, technical and financial measures.
