Goal

CrossCare stimulates, supports and accelerates innovations in healthcare (product, service, concept) by offering a healthcare living lab setting. The CrossCare fund offers an accessible way to realise care innovations on a larger scale. CrossCare is a cross-border project within the European funded programme Interreg Flanders-Netherlands and offers both operational and financial support.

CrossCare is a partnership of six living labs in Flanders and the Netherlands. With CrossCare care innovations can be tested by end users beyond the national borders.

The CrossCare project started in 2016. Some figures:

  • Call 1: 68 projects submitted – 9 approved – €2.687.814
  • Call 2: 54 projects submitted – 8 approved – €2.599.190
  • Call 3: 39 projects submitted – 2 approved – € 196.250
  • Call 4: 18 projects submitted – 5 approved – € 189.250
  • Call 5: 7 projects submitted – 6 approved - € 472.500

A total of 186 projects were submitted during the project period. The following projects received a 'go' for a trajectory with CrossCare.

Call 1

  • ARTHE (Ortho Medico): Intelligent rehabilitation device for people with CVA
  • Automatic Fall Prediction (Alma.Care): Wearables to predict and prevent falls in the elderly
  • MyCOPD (Medicine Men): Self-management tool for COPD patients
  • Minze HomeFlow (Minze): Smart home solution combining uroflow meter and urination diary
  • NightWatch (Livassured, Kempenhaeghe & Summa): Device for detection of epileptic seizures in the home situation ('NightWatch')
  • Pactief Bewegen care chair (Vita-Motion): Movement technology to relax and vitalise
  • SenZYX (Vanroey.be): Smart sensor to support rehabilitation of lower back pain patients
  • Shaken, Not Spilled (Commeto): Tool to avoid spills caused by tremor
  • Zivver: Safe emailing, chatting and file sharing

Call 2

  • Drainpatch (Bedal): Simple drainage patch that integrates fixation and waterproof protection
  • IncoSense Smart (IncoSense): Smart incontinence care for improved patient well-being and cost savings
  • Inflatable Prone Support (IPS)-(Ergotrics): Inflatable, disposable positioning cushion for prone surgery
  • LiZe (CE-Mate & GGZe): Lithium self-testing method with blended care module for clients with bipolar disorder
  • Pee-Post (Novosanis): Device for self-collecting urine for anonymous STD test
  • Tomas, Tomas Care: Stoma appliance for leak-proof stoma
  • Zapp, BPI Services & GGZE: Self-scoring app for mental health care
  • Zinc, Zinnovators: Tracking the intake of medication by vulnerable elderly and mentally disabled people

Call 5 - Care challenges

  • Well-being: Prevention and early detection of sleep disorders, good sleep hygiene, optimisation of natural sleep and support to reduce sleep medication
  • Self-management for patients with COPD
  • Eatwell: Prevent malnutrition and under-nutrition in the elderly by informing, raising awareness and monitoring
  • Home Living Guide: Organise home and nursing home care differently so that the elderly can continue to live comfortably at home longer
  • Free 2 Walk: Innovations for people with dementia younger than 65 years, in active phase of life
  • PPoF: Personalised fall prevention for intramural elderly residents
