About Leen

Working for Thomas More is as exciting as you can imagine. It fills my life and it makes me feel alive, as a teacher, trainer, and researcher. I love plain language, neat design and visual communication to get a message across clearly. I see it as a social challenge to better reach vulnerable target groups. For years, I have been 'hitting the road' with training courses on all aspects of accessible and clear communication for local authorities, PCSWs and social profit organisations.

I am the author of the book 'Over de drempel' in which I give tips for accessible communication with people with disabilities and also of the toolkit Heerlijk Helder in de Zorg, accessible communication in care, which has since been translated into more than 40 tailor-made training courses for a wide range of care professionals. We used it to put the theme of Health Literacy firmly on the map in Flanders. We recently completed the HealthLi Buurtkompas project, in which we developed a support package in co-creation with young adults, local authorities and front-line workers for the Pallieterland front-line zone, to strengthen the ability to cope with loneliness. I also regularly work on train-the-trainer packages on health literacy so that organisations can use them sustainably.
