From Boomers to Gen Z, every generation brings unique values, learning styles and expectations. At Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, we see this firsthand; from traditional students to older adult learners, entering education later in life. The intergenerational dynamic is equally present between students and staff, and in the transition from higher education to the labour market.
Generational differences can be challenging, but also spark creativity, innovation, and new ways of thinking. Different ways of thinking foster creativity and new perspectives, qualities essential in both education and research, and the labour market.
But how do we turn these differences into strengths? What competences do we need to understand, connect and collaborate across generations? And how do we make sure our learning stays relevant and sticks with students of all ages?
