Motiphy+ is a game application for remote rehabilitation exercises. Within the ACSELL programme, a Pilot Action was set up with partners in Germany and Italy. LiCalab accompanied these European partners by setting up co-creation sessions and a Human Factor Study. This Pilot Action was completed and LiCalab reported the results to Clynx, the Portuguese company developing Motiphy+.

The Portuguese start-up Clynx is developing Motiphy+, a telerehabilitation tool for exercising at home, combined with sessions in the hospital. The physiotherapist and the patient can follow the progression through the online platform. Motiphy+ consists of a camera that is attached to the computer or television screen and a software that has to be downloaded. The software gives access to an online platform to follow the movements and analyse the results of the exercises.

From the co-creation sessions we learned that the human contact and interaction between the physiotherapist and the patient remains very important and that both physiotherapist and patient want to maintain this contact. A digital exercise application such as Motiphy+ has the great advantage that the patient does not have to leave the house and that he can plan his exercises in his own time. The exercise sessions have a large 'fun-factor' and are best used in combination with personal sessions.

The Human Factor Studies showed that people could use some help with the installation of the software. Patients felt somewhat insecure about doing the exercises correctly. People wanted personal guidance to get them started.

This Pilot Action was a very instructive experience for both the European partners and the company. And in the process, the LiCalab team transferred its knowledge.
