Budget and Financial Well-being

Marieke studied commercial engineering at the KU Leuven and after her graduation she worked at various municipalities and public centers.

Since 2019, Marieke has been working at CEBUD, focusing on reference budget research. In this work, Marieke always has an interest in translating scientific findings into tools for social policy at all levels. Her recent scientific research concerns the development of a reference-based poverty indicator for Flanders and the evaluation of the effectiveness of minimum income schemes in Belgium. In addition, her work focuses on updating and improving reference budgets and how to convert them into a user-friendly REDI-application.

Outside working hours, Marieke prefers to be with friends and family for dinners, get-aways, small and big adventures.
