Experienced researcher with an interest in decent income and effective social policy. Pursuing a PhD at the University of Antwerp. Aims to translate research findings into policy that makes a real difference.

Since 2019, Marieke has been working at CEBUD, focusing on research into reference budgets. She consistently emphasises translating scientific findings into practical guidance for social policy at all levels. Recently, her research has included developing a reference budget-based poverty indicator and evaluating the effectiveness of minimum incomes in Belgium. Her work also involves updating and improving reference budgets and translating them into a user-friendly REMI application.

Outside of work, Marieke enjoys spending time with friends and family for meals, outings, and both small and big adventures.
