The reference budgets for social participation answer the question of how much minimum income a family needs to participate fully in society. In this formation topic, you will discover the theoretical framework behind the reference budgets and how much income you need to participate in our society.

You can then zoom in on the cost of having a baby, teenagers or studying children or examine in detail how effective our minimum income protection is. For CPASs, there is also room to discover how they can use our REMI tool as a diagnostic tool to determine clients' neediness.

Financial literacy means balancing income and expenses, now and in the future. A target for in a lot of assistance and services. But what conditions underlie this and why should you take them into account as a social worker? We zoom in on the importance of a dignified income and consider financial skills and financial behavior.

You will be given tools to help you work on the financial capability of your clients. For each of the three conditions, we look at what you as a social worker can do and how you can work with your client on the road to greater financial independence.

Money stress. A term we hear more and more often. What does it mean to live on (too) little money? In this training topic, we not only consider how much income you need to participate in our society, but we also zoom in on the stress and scarcity that financially vulnerable families experience on a daily basis.

We cover what consequences stress and scarcity bring, and how it affects financial choices and behavior. We reflect on what families living with money shortages must undertake to cope and what it takes to break through it.

This training introduces you to our Social Balance, a tool that allows you to map and monitor the life situations of individuals and families. With the Social Balance, as a social worker you and your client analyze their current living situation and determine together which areas need priority attention. This helps to formulate goals and implement targeted assistance.

During the training you will gain scientific insights about the effects of poverty on our brain and you will learn why a stress-sensitive approach is so important when you want to stimulate behavioral change. After the theoretical explanation, you will get to work yourself: you will discover how the tool is structured and how you can use it yourself for targeted counseling.

Wondering where you as a local government can make a difference? Although a lot of structural measures are taken at higher policy levels, as a local government you can still make a tangible difference for low-income families. We reflect on poverty rates, the effectiveness of our minimum income protections, and look at the impact of rights exploration and social housing.
