Exploring social rights

Website

Sometimes the household income is too low or the essential expenses are too high to live a decent life. In this case, it is worth checking whether the family is entitled to additional social benefits. To help you do this, our website will provide you with the necessary support.

What

A tool for exploring social rights

Social rights are premiums, compensations and benefits that apply to specific target groups and in certain areas of life. Because these benefits are not usually automatic and because there are so many different types of benefits, it is not easy to claim all your rights. You can get help from the PCSW where you live, the regional CAW or the social service of your health insurance fund.

You will find three useful tools on our website DEBT-FREE. On the road to financial self-suffiency.

A summary of the main social rights for these six target groups:

  • People on a low income
  • Elderly
  • Families with children
  • People with a disability or chronic illness
  • People entitled to social assistance or income guarantee for the elderly (IGO)
  • Persons entitled to the increased reimbursement of health care

A brochure "Who seeks, who finds".

The brochure provides a concise overview of common social rights. It can be used in social work practice and care services as well as independently by consumers and clients. Professionals who wish to share the brochure with clients can use the cover letter to explain its purpose. The brochure can be used as an interview guide for social workers to help people claim their rights. It can also be distributed by bailiffs to households they visit with arrears.

Printed checklists

We have also developed printed checklists for those who prefer to work on paper or who do not have access to the internet. These are checklists that summarise rights and entitlements for each target group. These handouts can be used as a guide in a support or counselling session. The social worker can tick off which rights (potentially) apply to a beneficiary. With this list, beneficiaries can go to other services to check whether they are entitled to a particular benefit.
