A reference budget reflects the minimum income a family needs to participate in our society. This budget includes a minimum necessary budget for all necessary expense items, such as housing, energy, food, health care, education or clothing. To determine how much money is needed for a particular expense item, we look up the prices of all products and services needed to participate in society.
Using the calculator, you can calculate a reference budget for your family. In this calculation we assume that all family members are in good health, well informed and have all the necessary competencies to manage their budget frugally. In reality, this means that the budget you really need may differ from this calculation.
