New cross-cultural study: differences in living lab research across borders

Nele De Witte Researcher

LiCalab is running a large study on cross-cultural differences in living lab research with which we hope to get a better understanding of group dynamics that might influence the results of (international) living lab research. Gaining insights in these differences will allow the living lab community to improve procedures for international study protocols. Interested in participation? Get in touch!

As a first step, we executed a survey study in 36 living labs of 20 countries. These results were presented at the ENoLL Open Living Lab Days 2019 in Thessaloniki and published in Health informatics journal. In the second part of our study, we think it is important to collect data on actual end-user behaviour. Therefore, we want to compare observations of group sessions coupled with end user questionnaires.

How can living labs participate?

  • By having an observer present in 2 or 3 already planned group sessions of your living lab (e.g., focus groups).
  • By inviting the participants of these sessions to complete a brief questionnaire about their motives and experiences.

What’s in it for the living labs?

  • We will provide the results of the survey of your sample, which allows to learn about your sample and their preferences.
  • You contribute to important research that will allow the living lab community to improve study protocols. The results will be made publicly available.
