OVAM, Bebat and the Horizon Europe consortium of DiCE bring the health industry, professionals and policy makers around the table for an interactive workshop.  The reason is the study "Research on single-use medical equipment containing batteries". The workshop is part of the Green Deal Sustainable Care, which seeks ways to reduce the use of materials in the health and welfare sector. The number of places is limited: first come, first serve. Don't miss this opportunity and register today!

The study "Research on single-use medical equipment containing batteries" by OVAM and Bebat focuses on single-use medical equipment containing batteries. The study analyzes where the waste stage of this equipment starts, for example in hospital departments or in home care, estimates current and future volumes of waste streams, and maps existing initiatives. The study provides insights on the logistics chain and costs associated with waste collection, as well as dismantling the medical equipment. Policy recommendations are made for a more circular framework.

The Green Deal Sustainable Care is a Flemish initiative for and by the broad care and welfare sector that aims to accelerate a sustainable transition. The Green Deal was launched in March 2023 and runs until the end of 2026. 193 participants signed this commitment and will start working within their organizations on actions that fall within the 4 defined themes:

  • Nature & Health
  • Climate & infrastructure
  • Materials & waste
  • Medicines in water

New Green Deal participants can still sign up until March 2024. Interested in participating in the event? Learn more and register via this link.
