Ik kan niet praten - First Aid for Communication Issues

Goal

The goal is to make communication possible for people who have difficulty with it. We do this in an approachable and accessible way so that everyone can get started with it. The focus is on simple, inexpensive tools that are low or non-technical and can be deployed quickly. This way, everyone can easily use the recommended tools. We also offer personal advice. In addition, we hope to use the web tool to make the healthcare sector aware of the need for alternative communication (tools) and possible solutions.

Relevance

Unfortunately, communication does not come naturally to everyone. But being able to express yourself is very important for your well-being. If you cannot communicate, you run the risk of losing your social contacts which has a major impact: corona made that painfully clear.

However, knowledge about alternative forms of communication (tools) is still limited. A small investment makes a big difference! That is why we collect the available knowledge within this project in an understandable way and thus create a social impact.

Our role

The project is carried out by Modem, an expert network in supporting communication technology. Modem is coordinated by research group Mobilab & Care.

Future

The website developed within this project will be incorporated in the Modem expert network. This way we can monitor, supplement and adjust the web tool.
