Occupational therapist inspired by individuals with disabilities, dedicated to creating an inclusive society through research.

Jo Daems holds a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and a Master's degree in Education (Educational Needs). Her passion lies in the field of children and adults with disabilities.

As an occupational therapist, she alternately worked with children, adolescents and adults with autism and/or intellectual disabilities. In 1997, she started teaching occupational therapy. Meanwhile, she has more than ten years of experience in research for and with persons with intellectual disabilities. Her expertise lies in the qualitative research domain, such as conducting focus interviews with persons with disabilities and co-creating with end users.

Jo has served as a project leader for several research projects, always with a focus on the inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Recently, the ESF projects "CVO Inclusief" and "CVO Inclusief 2" were completed, in which a handbook for inclusive adult education was co-created with individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Currently, she is involved in multiple projects, including  SKATE, a-STEP, Vocational Qualifying Pathways and Care for Work.
