Tine Vertommen

Dr. Vertommen behaalde een Master in de Ethiek (VUB), een Master in de Criminologische Wetenschappen (VUB) en een doctoraat in de Gezondheidswetenschappen (UAntwerpen).  Tine coördineert de onderzoekslijn ‘Veilig leef- en sportklimaat' bij de Mens en Welzijn onderzoeksunit van de Thomas More hogeschool in Antwerpen. Ze is ook aangesteld als extern consultant in de Safe Sport Unit van het Internationaal Olympisch Comité (IOC), waar ze verantwoordelijk is voor de wetenschappelijke kennisoverdracht en de ontwikkeling van evidence-based instrumenten, procedures en beleid om een veilig sportklimaat te creëren. Tine coördineert momenteel het International Research Network on Violence and Integrity in Sport (IRNOVIS), gefinancierd door het FWO.

Haar onderzoek richt zich op de prevalentie en preventie van grensoverschrijdend gedrag tegen kinderen en adolescenten in de sport. Ze was verantwoordelijk voor de eerste grootschalige studie naar de prevalentie van grensoverschrijdend gedrag in Nederland en Vlaanderen, en ze is mede-auteur van de Interpersonal Violence in Sport Questionnaire (VTAQ), die als basis dient voor de meeste studies grensoverschrijdend gedrag in de sport wereldwijd. De laatste projecten van Dr. Vertommen zijn gericht op de ontwikkeling van interventies voor omstanders om grensoverschrijdend gedrag in lokale sportclubs tijdig op te merken en adequaat te reageren.

Op internationaal vlak is Dr. Vertommen lid van de Safe Sport Pool of International Experts van de Raad van Europa; de High-Level Expert Group on Gender Equality in Sport van de Europese Commissie; en de Academic Advisory Board van de IOC Certificate course for Safeguarding Officer in Sport. Haar valorisatie-effect blijkt uit het feit dat het IOC Dr. Vertommen heeft geselecteerd als een van de 12 vooraanstaande internationale deskundigen die de komende IOC-consensusverklaring over veiligheid in de sport (2023) opstellen.
