Safe Sport Inspiration Days (27-28 November 2024)

Thomas More is hosting, in collaboration with Ghent University and Sportieq, the Safe Sport Inspiration Days on 27th and 28th of November 2024 in Antwerp (Belgium). We are welcoming safeguarding officers, researchers, policy makers, students, and any other persons who are interested in the field of Safe Sport. More details can be found below.

SAFE SPORT SCIENCE SLAM

We are excited to announce the call for abstracts for the 1st Safe Sport Science Slam which will be on November 27, 2024, in Antwerp, Belgium. We welcome abstract submissions on safe sport research ideas, ongoing or recently published research.

Are you passionate about conducting research in safe sport? Would you like to share your research and learn from others? We invite you to present your work during the Safe Sport Science Slam.

We challenge you to present your research ideas or findings in a clear, concise, creative and engaging way to a live academic audience. The presentations will have a 10/5 format: 10 min presentation and 5 min for questions.

Why submitting an abstract?

  • The Safe Sport Science Slam provides a platform for you to present your latest research or new research ideas to fellow academics, safeguarding practitioners and policy makers;
  • Meet and network with other researcher within the Safe Sport research field including Profs. Tine Vertommen, Leen Haerens, Emma Kavanagh
  • Enjoy the event in downtown Antwerp (Belgium), with some drinks and snacks to close and stay for the Safe Sport Inspiration Day the next day (28th of November 2024).

Helena Verhelle

Helena Verhelle is een onderzoeker bij  de onderzoekslijn Veilig leef- en sportklimaat, onderzoeksgroep Mens en Welzijn. Als criminoloog werkt zij mee aan onderzoek naar  grensoverschrijdend gedrag in de sport en het hoger onderwijs.

Tine Vertommen (PhD) is onderzoekscoördinator Veilig leef- en sport klimaat bij de onderzoeksgroep Mens en Welzijn. Als criminoloog doet zij onderzoek naar de prevalentie en preventie van grensoverschrijdend gedrag in de sport.

Karolien Adriaens

Karolien Adriaens (PhD) is een onderzoeker bij  de onderzoekslijn Veilig leef- en sportklimaat, onderzoeksgroep Mens en Welzijn.  Als klinisch psycholoog werkt zij mee aan projecten over grensoverschrijdend gedrag in de sport en kindermishandeling.

Jon Brain (PhD) is onderzoeker bij de onderzoeksgroep Mens en Welzijn, onderzoekslijn Veilig Leef- en Sportklimaat. Als sportpsycholoog werkt hij aan het Safe Football Allies project.
